In the early 1990s, during Lent, I decided to give up candy. One day, as I rested on our couch, I hoped to receive a word from God. The words “GO TO K-Mart” echoed in my mind. Initially, I dismissed it as a temptation—perhaps the devil himself.
But the message persisted. I got into my car and drove to K-Mart. As I approached the store, I noticed a man with a “Society for the Blind” display. He greeted me, asking if I’d like to donate. I did, and he handed me a delicious chocolate bar. The irony struck me—chocolate, the very thing I had given up!
Curious, the man asked if I knew anyone who was blind. I replied, “No, but I know some who are spiritually blind.” His eyes widened. He shared a remarkable story: Our church had been praying for a young woman with an enlarged heart who needed an urgent transplant. They believed the person through whose prayers God would heal her would say, “I know some who are spiritually blind.”
“It’s you,” he said. I was stunned.
Later, I visited the woman in the hospital. To my amazement, she was completely healed—no transplant required. God had used an ordinary encounter to work a miraculous healing.
This experience deepened my faith and reminded me that God’s ways are mysterious. Sometimes, we’re called to intercede for others we’ve never met, trusting that our prayers reach beyond physical boundaries. The encounter with the man outside K-Mart and the subsequent healing reinforced my belief in divine intervention.
May this testimony inspire others to recognize God’s hand in unexpected moments and trust in His healing power.
Shalom!
